Poured an attractive dark ruddy brown with a sweet nose of fruit and honey. The flavor was also quite sweet withe the honey standing out. The mouthfeel was smooth and this was a very drinkable one. Very subtle oak in the finish.

Draft at the Bistro BA Fest; clear brown with a medium off-white head; Nose of plums, dark fruits, and very light tartness; flavor was sweet plummy, and winey! Not near as good as Veritas 003!

At 2nd Barrel Tasting. This was pretty stellar...full bodied, coating the palate like a soft blanket. Oakiness comes through. Not much sourness, fairly sweet actually. I think the blend had a bit too much mead in this sample, but this was still awesome!

Sampled at Lost Abbey barrel tasting. Pours a hazy brown to purple with a small soapy ring for head. Aroma is berry, fruits, yeast, sour. Flavor is fruity, yeasty, funk, sour, acidic, barrely almost wine like goodness. This was a real treat.

On tap at Lost Abbey. Poured a slightly hazy oxblood red with a one finger white head and decent lacing. Nose was raspberries, caramel malt, light cocoa and some funky yeast. Taste was more ripe raspberries dominating, but slightly burnt dark chocolate and some cocoa came into to play as well as more yeast. A touch of earthy funk finished it out. Light and airy mouth feel. This was outstanding. It may have stood out more since I had it right after the tart Veritas 004, but this one was much sweeter and enjoyable.

Bottle at Redstone Meadery. Clear orange brown coloured with a small off white head. Spicy aroma of berries, honey and fruits. Fruity and light acidic flavour of berries and spices with notes of wood. Tart finish. Very dry.

GABF 2007. Opaque black brown in the glass. One sniff is a smörgåsbord: sugary fire wood, musk, a little brett, saw dust, sugar cane, nutmeg, and a wine barrel. Dope. Flavor: wow. So flavorful. Woodsy through the middle with a nice acidic floor, the acid gliding over the top, not hitting underneath like a guezue; the finish is fruity, with sour apple and yeast, but the wood and barrel qualities are still there as an accent. Perfect balance between juiciness and drier barrel aspects. Maybe my favorite Lost Abbey beer at the fest (and that includes Cable Car); it’s a close call at least.

GABF 2007. A pale golden-brown beer with a tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of fruit and brettanomyces. The flavor is swweet malty with notes of over ripe fruits, wood, cherries, and other berries, as well as lighter notes of brettanomyces, leading to a dry acidic and woody finish. I dig the flavor.
