| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 23, 2008 Appearance: Holy moly, what a filthy-looking beer! Hideously murky brown body belches up a tall, foamy, beige head.
Smell: A curious, intriguing nose; a craftful mix of grapes, dusty leather, funk, abandoned dough balls, and decomposing wood.
Taste: Vague brown maltiness with distinct tastes of cinnamon, chestnuts, and freshly-grated nutmeg. Mildly funky throughout. There’s the vinous wine, the wood, and while it is sour, it’s a fairly restrained sourness. Some sugary, sweetish hints hit out of nowhere midway. Cumulative tongue-numbing tannins. A suggestion of tart cherries. Tastes of sandlewood and leather on the subtly sourish, drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Full carbonation.
Drinkability: Chock-a-block with complexity. It’s tons of fun, funk, and quite good overall. Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 23, 2008 Thanks to Marc for this generous treat during the pre-DLD tasting. Nice carbonation that produced an aggressive head. Very complex aroma with notes that reminded me of Unibroue’s yeast strain. Spicey, peppery, honey sweet. Some candied fruit with a little natural cherry tossed in on the flavour. I don’t get too much of the Angel’s share except for a bit of brandy and oak deep inside. A bit warming on the finish with quite a few esters carrying on well after the experience. Interesting. CaptainCougar (5441), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 23, 2008 Bottle thanks to deftim13: Pours a transparent copper amber with a nicely-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sour oak and cherries with some nice earthy, doughy notes and tart complexity. Body starts with decent fullness and lightly sweet toasty malts well-balanced with a light cherry oaky fruitiness and oaky complexity with a drier, earthy funky leathery finish. Very smooth, balanced and enjoyable. Another great brew from Lost Abbey! unclemattie (2411), Georgia, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 18, 2008 At Savor, just a wonderful mix of dark fruit , sour, yeast, candy. It explodes on the palate and leaves a slightly wood trail. Trying hard to find words, failing that I will just bow in honor. nimbleprop (847), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
