| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 16, 2008 Exceptional from the point at which you see it in the glass, straw-colored and silky looking, with a nice lacy head on it. Aromas of dark fruit -- cherry, hazel, plum, apricot. Malts of sweet chocolate and dry coffee -- don’t ask me how, but they’re in there together. Then there is the whisky vanilla and complex aging of the beer that wafts up and takes the whole thing over. All of these things mingle on the lengthy palate. A great beer, and one I wish I had a store of in the basement to contemplate all season long. Sephiroth (66), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Bottle thanks to WeeHeavySD, thanks Jon. Color is that of a tobacco sunburst Gibson Les Paul. Smells spicy and oaky, maybe some over-ripe fruit. Tastes very complex, not very sour, I would say there is more Brett than lactic or acetic character. Vanilla and cherry come through. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated, tight bubbles. Drinkability is outstanding. IrishBoy (2709), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2008 From bottle, thanks Chris! Looks lovely, deep reddish-brown with thick white head. Very astringent, winey, oakey. Sour but not tart. Spot-on there. Had a few days after having 002. To compare: this one is much fizzier. Also slightly fecal. Generally not as mellow or as complex as 002 while still being as exceptional and memorable.
