Shared by puzzl, thanks a lot. Poured into a copita glass with a murky brown color. Aroma is barrel heavy with a cherry astringency, definite sour and a leafy/grassy overbearing oak. Taste is thing and buttery from the oak sugars, which are way too strong here. The flavor is watery with sour tinges. There is a good beer somewhere underneath all this barrel here. It also seemed a lot like the CdT, but I am not really an expert in all these beers, just seemed that way. Another example of the new American Sour and I have had many other breweries that are much less touted that make a similar brew.8/3/7/3/15
Has a small sample at RBSG’09, I forgot that I actually rated this (its hard to keep all these different Veritas brews straight). Well it wasn’t any better, maybe even worse, muddy and buttery with little sourness to it. The age isn’t helping at all. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 4, 2009 Deep amber brown beer. Aroma is quite nice. Rich sweet plummy character. Fruity and quite sour with a nice richness. Flavour is quite fruity... lots of plums and cherries with some date-type sweetness along the back. The sourness can only be describes as "Lost Abbey-ish"... they’ve really got a house character going on in that place. Sort of soft and pineappley with a kiss of barrel and faint mustiness. Pretty solid brew. puzzl (2619), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2009 Bottled, shared with some people on new years. Gusher when the cork is popped, decent head, auburn brown pour with a chunky, yeasty body. Sour, appley aroma is nice but very typical Lost Abbey. Boozy aroma, lightly sour, lightly nutty, lightly woody. Flavor is similar, tasty but not complex, mostly a tart woodiness, with a touch of bourbon, yeast, and cherry. This is yummy but I can’t see how this is worthy of being top 50 or even top 200. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 31, 2008 750mL bottle. Deep dark orange-red with a massive rocky off white head. Musty wood, cherries, acetic aromatics. Plasticy phenols up front, soft bretty character with tinges of acetic sourness. Ruddy cherry and vanilla flavors manifest. Lingering tartness in the finish with a vinous quality. Mouthfeel is medium, somewhat dry. LtDan (499), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Poured a deep dark red. A bit of an off white head. Smelled of fantastic sour cherry, red grapes, and oak. All the flavors that seemed separated in my first session of this came together. Was it Christmas or was it just the right time to pour? | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 24, 2008 Draft at EBF one of my favorite of the night. Pours a hazy amber body with a 1 finger off white head. A light cherry body with notes of bourbon and sweet malt. Lightly sour with an easy caramel body, a light woodiness that leads to a dry finish with citrus malt and a light alcohol warming. I drank plenty of this offering. Good shit. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a rich red maroon color with a fizzy beige head. Was a bit of a gusher, but opened cold and allowed to warm to keep it under control. Smell is dark, sour cherry and smooth rich tart fruitiness. Taste was tart cherry, and was rich and pie like with a semi dry maltiness. Rich, tart red fruitiness mainly. Surprisingly, the mouthfeel was pretty nice with no foaming in the mouth overcarbonation. Very tame, despite being a gusher. Nice beer. jimbowood (953), Athens, Georgia, USA
