The rating is a combo of the couple of bottles tasted. Poured a hazy dark brown color with an off-white head. Semi-sweet start with a mild-moderate tartness. Notes of cherry and wood with hints of leather. The flavor was tart but had a light sweetness in there as well. Light taste of raisins. Semi-dry finish with a mildly bitter finish.

750 ml bottle kindly shared by mreusch. Pours cloudy brown with a thin, creamy, beige head that laces nicely. The nose is a pleasant blend of sour, fruity, lightly woody and mildly vinous notes; nice. On the light side of medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is vinous and slick with an acidic, chest warming finish at the swallow. The flavor more-or-less follow the nose with a lightly dry and woody finish. This is a tasty beer. Thanks again for sharing it with us, Matt. :)

Tasted at Cleveland tasting on 8-23-08. Thanks!! Bottle pours a dark brown color with off white head. Aroma is bourbon, wood, and cherry. Has a medium body a fair amount of carbonation. Taste upfront has a nice malt sweetness, then some cherry, vanilla, bourbon, oak, then on to the finish that is really smooth and a blend of all of the above. Overall a really nice brew.

750 ml bottle generously shared by mreusch. Pour is cloudy muddy brown orange with a three inch tan head. Head falls with limited lacing. Nice in the glass. Aroma is soft cherries, bourbon barrel woodiness and residual alcohol. Full nose. Taste is acidic sharpness initially, not a fruit sourness, really, hard to explain. Metallic cherry is not it, but close. It is relatively soft, though, and has a nice smooth palate. Midway through the slick malt and bourbon barrel kick in. The flavors shift a lot in this one, sour is always up front, but beyond that taste jumps around between bourbon, malt, alcohol, etc. The alcohol is present, though decently integrated. Distinctive brew. Thanks for sharing this rarity Matt!

750ml bottle, with a huge thanks to Ryan (giarcsr) for the chance to try this! A bit of a gusher, but started with it plenty cool to keep the foam down. Pours a murky amber brown with a sizable foamy tan head that slowly drifts down to a thin spotty covering. Aroma is well rounded, with sour cherry, vanilla, some funk, oak, and on - lots there for sure, and really blends nicely when it warms! Flavor starts with a moderate sourness that moves into dark fruits, pinot noir notes, spice and oak. The flavor seems to move around a bit with each taste until it warms more, but maintains nice sour, spice and pinot noir qualities overall. Very interesting and good stuff, thanks again Ryan!

Bottle at RBSG. I forgot my measuring cup to ensure that my pour was adequate to meet Ross’ approval for rating entry. I am going to give myself the benefit of the doubt. Pours a murky amber with a light beige head. Perfect mouthfeel and texture- wow. Nose of christmas spices and dark sugary malts. Flavor of dark fruits, cinnamon, banana, caramel, chocolate, and a hint of brett. Semi dry and oaky finish with some very small citrus accents. Great beer that will go on my wants list
