Aroma is strong with roasted malt, smoke, light chocolate, cocoa, and spent coffee grounds. The taste starts out with chocolate, sour coffee, and roasted malt that is overly roasted and leads to some astringency on the finish. The mouthfeel is very light and thin for a stout. Meh. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2009 Bottle from briandorry55. Medium black in color, good head. Aroma was sweet candy sugar and chocolate. Taste was close to the nose. Sweet chocolate, roasted malts and some coffee. The texture was terribley thin for a stout, almost watery... I have never liked sweet stouts and this one didnt change my mind. Thanks Brian for the beer! snook91901 (34), USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Pours an attractive black color with decent tan head that dissipated fairly quickly leaving a thin film along the top. Pleasant aroma of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Flavor is the same and very balanced. Mouthfeel is good. This is a very nice stout.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 22, 2009 Updated: Feb 2, 2009Pours a dark, nutty brown. Appears black in the glass with a fizzy tan head. Has that American-style Stout nose, similar to Bell’s Porter, and which I’d define as more sugary than foreign stouts. Sweet, but moderately so. Baker’s cocoa, semi-sweet chocolate, and brown sugar dominate the flavor. Like a double-chocolate cookie on a bed of roasted malts. Great mouthfeel, full and almost chewy. Knowing this is a heavily hopped beer I wonder if some of that porter nose comes from the hops... After all, this beer isn’t all that bitter. Too sweet for my tastes, but not cloying, which is a good trick. Rustyham (585), miami, Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Fantastic stout for the price, a good default to buy by the case, by the bottle it is about $1.50. Pitch black color with brown head, far from complex though, don’t taste much more than coffee, but it does have a refreshing quality that many stouts don’t. JK (2966), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Dark brown and low carbonation. Medium palate with roasted malt. Considerable hops for the style. Highly drinkable, and if it doesn’t stand out in the crowd, it is very drinkable. cmillward (437), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Bottle, pours black showing brown around edges when held up to the light. Light tan head, thinning, recedes to edges. Roasty, molasses, malty, chocolate aroma. A touch of licorice in flavor, roasty, a bit sweet, chocolate. Just shy of medium in the mouth, a little chalky.
