It has a fleeting light orange head that quickly fades to a small, bubbly ring. Dark, roasty malt dominates the aroma: coffee and chocolate and smoke. It has a smooth, medium-full body with a dry finish. It has a very well balanced flavor. The bitterness seems to come as much from the malt as it does the hops. There are notes of dark roast coffee, baking chocolate and maybe a hint of rye bread. It is resiny and oaken, with a touch of sweetness and medicine. A damn fine stout! eburrell (7), Spring Valley, California, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 2, 2008 This is off the charts good, amazing and the only word that comes to mind is orgasmic. This beer exhibits everything that I want in a beer. Smoky, robustness and just overall yummyness.
cheers to this one carruthm (1146), Seattle, Washington, USA

Solid roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Flavour is mild smoked and holds a solid roasted malt base. Light chocolate smoothness too. Light bitterness mixed with a nice roasted malt acidity. Light chocolate malt following. Ends with a light roasted acidity and smooth chocolate along a nice bitterness. nbutler11 (765), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Pours like Guinness with a thick head of white foam. Much closer to a porter in consistency, and certainly not as creamy as one would expect, but a fine stout that offers the unexpected tatse of dates. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

Coffee and slight chocolate, pretty balanced with carbonation. Good for the style. Nothing real extreame here, good for someone just adventuring into dark beers or someone who prefers lighter styles. laguerita (111), Chicago, Illinois, USA
