Much closer to a porter in consistency, and certainly not as creamy as one would expect, but a fine stout that offers the unexpected tatse of dates. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

Coffee and slight chocolate, pretty balanced with carbonation. Good for the style. Nothing real extreame here, good for someone just adventuring into dark beers or someone who prefers lighter styles. laguerita (111), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Pours black with a pretty sturdy whit-ish head. Aroma is lots of dry roastiness with some condensed milk sweetness. Flavor is very dry, a bit sweet, an rather roasty. There is a touch of sourness, a bit like a malted milk ball, that I don’t particularly care for but is not unpleasant, but this taste seems common in a lot of stouts. Mouthfeel is not thick, but is appropriate for the style. All in all though, I like it. Perhaps not as much as some others on this site, but I like it.
I would recommend this beer; I bought this bottle at 3 Cellars in Franklin, WI. NobleSquirrel (1121), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Very tasty sweet stout. Pour is black with thin offwhite head. Nose is charcoal and some chocolatey malt notes. Taste is distinctly sweet and chocolatey with an oily mouthfeel due to the oatmeal. Very well balanced, actually, so I presume there is a hefty hop load. Excellent. jcwattsrugger (5582), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is rich dark malt/oats-molasses/cocoa. Taste is rich dark malt/oats-molasses/cocoa, slight hops bite. Full body. Nice for a style that’s not usually one of mine. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Pours an appealling dark brown with a tan head that is a little fizzy. Smells of sweet roasted malts, expresso, and chocolate. The taste is a little hoppy upfront that is quickly taken over by roastyness with hints of coffee, chocolate, and a little caramel. Leaves a little roasty aftertaste but not much. The mouthfeel is a little creamy with mild carbonation. Well balenced and somewhat complex. Really good allaround porter! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Chocolate-coffee aroma, and plenty of rich chocolate-coffee flavor in the brew, with a little zip of roasted bitterness at the finish. Creamy tan head. Some might find it a little thin and dare I say watery for a stout, but this worked really well for me.
