Commercial Description:
Not for the faint hearted! Our stout rewards the palate with robust flavor of roasted malts (malts are roasted like coffee beans) and heavy hops. A creamy smooth surprise.

Deep brown-black pour. Thick sticky head. Really nice looking beer. Dry cocoaish nose initially with lots of bitter chocolate and some roasted barley through the middle of the palate. Malty complexity that is quite pleasant. Nice balance of chocolatey sweetness and a bit of earthy bitterness. A nice simple stout, but it works.

Appears to be solid black, but light shining through reveals it to be a very dark ruby color. Totally tiny head, almost non-existant, which fades to nothing, quickly. Smells of malts and sweetbreads. Slight fruitiness. Tastes of ’medium-level’ malt content. It’s there, just not really big and bold. A nice ’safe’ amount, it seems. Burning coffee mixed with burnt chocolate. Nice in the mouth, though a bit on the watery side, for a stout. Very easy to drink, but I’d like to drink something that pleases me more. (But, thats’s just me.)

[Bottle] Pours black in color with about a fingers worth of tan head. Roasted aroma of chocolate and coffee. Taste includes caramelized sugars, molasses and heavily roasted dark malts. Thick and somewhat creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation levels. A hoppy and dry finish. A pretty good, well made stout.

Purchased a six pack at Lee’s Liquor in Las Vegas. Pour is black but not opaque. Creamy tan head. Blunt chocolate note with some faint hops. Slight roast. This is a well made stout and very good example of the style. Impressive.

6 pack purchased at Liquor Barn in Redding, CA. Poured into open-mouthed glass. Bouquet: Hershey’s baking chocolate, gentle hops. Flavor: Hershey’s dark chocolate and Whoppers chocolate malted balls. Finish- light espresso. Overall, a good beer. My wife and I are visiting Eureka next weekend for our anniversary, and we will visit the brewpub.

Very black, admits no light. Thin tan head, decent lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate and cafe au lait. Flavor begins with cocoa and progresses to roasted coffee. Nice enough, but a bit thin and could be more complex.

Pours nice and dark and the head has a good brown tint. Chocolate, creamy, and a hint of cofee.
