Aroma of chocolate and roast. Initial taste was of coffee, roast, and vanilla but as the beer warmed, the chocolate malt really came out. A hearty beer (even though it’s only 5.9% abv) with a thick mouthfeel. I enjoyed it a lot! thill25 (218), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 25, 2008 12 oz bottle...Poured a black w/ a small, mostly diminishing, tan head. The aroma wasn’t very strong. I got some coffee, cream, and teeny bit of chocolate. The flavor was a nice mix of malts (like a malt ball), dark chocolate, and some bitter coffee. It was sweet and dry, but very palatable. I enjoyed the bitterness of the finish. CP (124), USA

A very nicely brewed stout. Well balanced with a good roasted taste. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel at first, then the roasted malts come through on the end that lingers. A slight bitterness on the backend, but overall a great beer. craftbeerdesign (755), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Updated: Feb 25, 2008Bottle. Pours black with a moderate, somewhat dense dark brown head. Aroma is roast chocolate, semi-sweet, maybe with some vanilla. Flavor is creamy, strongly roast moderate sweet chocolate malt up front, moving to a less sweet finish, still with the burnt chocolate, but with some earthy and ashen hops. Very hoppy and roasty for a sweet stout, but retains a rich flavor, even if a bit straightforward, with some nice smooth body added by the oats. Seems to work well on the whole, so recommended. Moderately strong flavor fronted by the noticable burnt chocolate. Would receive higher marks if not for a slightly unpleasant aftertaste.
