The head is medium thickness, a decent tan, and fairly creamy. The aroma is sweet, roasted, coffee, chocolate, no alcohol is evident, and there seems to be some lactose present. The flavor is roasted mostly, some coffee, maybe some cream/milk taste although it isn’t prominent, lacks overall complexity. The palate is mild, lacks fullness and smoothness expected from a sweet stout. The finish is boring, leaves hints of roast. Not what I expected, but still enjoyable. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Very dark brown pour, diminutive, diminishing light brown head. Aroma is cocoa, lightly roasted malt, cream, some nectarine. Flavor is nicely balanced, a subtle blend of chocolate and roasted malts and coffee, simple but tasty. Palate is a little thin but it’s quaffable and well made, a good summer dark. Finishes with a touch of chococoffee and less roast, medium body. Nice sweetness levels throughout. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2007 Nice aroma of coffee and cocoa arise from beneath a foamy chocolatey head. A dark and deep pool in the glass. Taste was primarily of roasted malts, coffee and hint of chocolate. Sweet and smooth overall a little watery than I expected but overall very good. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Pours midnight brown w/ a medium, semi creamy, spattered froth. Nice lacing. Aromas of sweet malts and dry fruits. Medium full nectar w/ ample residual effers creates a velvety texture. Very nice. The flavors are so well integrated I don’t even know where to begin. Petite soured leather bursts throughout the sip like needles. Well I’d have to say the predominant flavors are dry bakers cocoa and leather in superbly balanced proportions. Other nuances include roasted coffee bean, black cherry, and a sliver of smoked maple. The finsh is bittered better than moderate but perfect. This stout rocks. Highly recommended. troopie (888), USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2007 Aroma of fruit, oatmeal and malt. Slight bitterness in flavour and a hint of espresso. Bitterish and hoppy finish. I didn’t find this all that sweet, more of a cream stout. jrob21 (1271), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2006 Very nice subtle stout. Roasted malt aromas. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter. Reminds me of semi sweet chocolate and roasted coffee. Finish is bitter and sligthly thin which is a little disappointing. The sweetness sticks with you.
