Commercial Description:
Not for the faint hearted! Our stout rewards the palate with robust flavor of roasted malts (malts are roasted like coffee beans) and heavy hops. A creamy smooth surprise.

Bottle from trade with kenb. Thanks Ken! Pours a thick black color with a small brown head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is rich and creamy with roasted malt, a hint of coffee and fermented fruit. This was exceptionally smooth and very enjoyable. Finishes nicely with a slight hop bitterness. An overall well balanced brew!

Pours a super dark brown with a little bit of head. Smells of coffee and chocolate. Nice sweetness.

Kind of surprised to see this classed here as a sweet stout - I found it pretty dry. The aroma was fair, revealing plenty of roast, a bit of an herbal/woody hop (that was not entirely pleasing), and a cheesy/sweaty component that may have been the hop. The flavor was dry and roasty, with a bit of husky astringency, probably from the oatmeal. The finish was dry and ashy/burnt. A touch of crystal malt flavor was apparent up front, but it wasn’t a sweetness so much as just a hint of caramelized grain sugar - I imagine the crystal malt was a dark variety with most of the sweetness burnt out. Despite all my roast/burnt descriptors here, this isn’t overly roasty tasting, as the flavor is on the whole mild and under-stated, like many dry stouts (fortunately this one is not nitro’d!). Hop flavoring was nil, and bittering was light. A fair, easy drinking stout.

Bottle. Roasted malt aroma with a tinge of hoppiness. Dark black color, very opaque, tan foam. Flavor is good. The roasted malt really comes through and is well balanced with the hops. Coffee flavors are present. Smooth creamy palate. Good overall.

Bottle:Thick, engine oil blacl with a small, stiff tan head. The aroma is sweet, malty and chocolaty, kind of like a good old fashioned chocolate milkshake. It is a thick stout (akin to molasses), and once you can get it to pour out of the glass, you find it to be a tasty stout - full of chocolate, coffee, and a little tang at the end. I’m impressed.

Black color, tannish head with spicy/smokey nose. Kind of thin body and very sweet, maybe too sweet for the bitterness level.

Pours very dark brown with a nice tan head. The aroma has a good amount of chocolate, vanilla and roasted malts wtih some graininess. Medium / full body with a grainy feel with some semi-fizzy carbonation. The taste has lots of roasted malt, light burnt grains, some chocolate and a bit of a stale flavor. The finish is fairly thin tasting with more char. A little bit of fruitiness shows through. This came across as an okay stout. Looking over some of the ratings here I will have to get a fresh bottle, I just wasn’t as impressed as many & it could have been age on my sample.

Delicious aroma! The nose is a great greeting to this beer. There is a hint of head that doesn’t last long but remains in a ring on the outside of the glass. Flavor is sweet malts, dark fruit, and molasses. Some coffee comes in late. There is almost no bitterness and just a hint of tartness. I found it to be very smooth and a delightful beer to drink.
