Commercial Description:
Not for the faint hearted! Our stout rewards the palate with robust flavor of roasted malts (malts are roasted like coffee beans) and heavy hops. A creamy smooth surprise.

The dark dark brown looks like a flat black paint. Head is tall but disappears fast. Not a speck of light comes through. Very nice smoky aroma. Raisins and dark chocolate. Some mild mocha/coffee malt. Really roasted and good. Heavy tobacco flavor. Heavy but mild mocha coffee. Bitter coffee; sweetish milky chocolate. Nicely balanced. The milky and smooth feel is almost TOO drinkable for a stout. This is a smooth, sweetish drinkable stout. Milky and very pleasant.

Pours that sort of off black color that Guinness has, the head is huge and has a light tan color. Aroma is a bit faint, with some roasty maltiness, some fruitiness and some raisin, but I’m finding I really need to get my nose in the glass to pick up much; it’s not bad, just not particularly complex and most certainly not very pungent. The flavor is much more forward, and considerably better than the aroma. This is as hoppy a "sweet stout" that I’ve had with plenty of bitterness balancing out the kind of milk chocolate sweetness and the fruity coffee flavors. Overall the flavor is very well rounded and the texture is full and creamy.

12 oz. bottle. Pours very dark brown, with a long lasting tan head. Smooth and drinkable, a little sweeter than many stouts. Faint notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Thumbs up on this one.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, and a hint of coffee. Poured black in color with a medium to large-sized, dense, rocky, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Not sparkling. Small particles throughout. Small lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, caramel, slight cream, and hints of piney hops and tar. Medium body. Lightly thick, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt, chocolate, and slight caramel finish is lightly dry.

Poured a nearly opaque black with a decent sized tan head that left some lacing. Light roasted aromas of chocolate and toffee. Good roasted flavors of chocolate, oatmeal and coffee. Had a very nice creamy texture and finish. A very good stout indeed.

Sample at July 17, 2009 Beer Club meeting. Standard stout appearance. Light roasted malt aroma... so roasted it reminds me of chocolate and coffee. Flavor of... asparagus? There’s that BO flavor again... what IS that flavor that is so reminiscent of body odor??? Good, but not exceptional.
