Aroma of chocolate malts, certainly some oatmeal and a hint of vanilla. Initial flavor seems to be black patent and chocolate malts. Then some coffee entered midway. Flavor ends with some mild roasted malts. Tasty brew. waolsen (1223), Littleton, Colorado, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 11, 2006 not sure how I missed this. probably one of the gazillion ratings written on a scrap that’s fallen into pile of dust and grunge and started a life of rating on its own.
The first bottle I had I enjoyed well enough - bomber. then had a 12 oz and thought it was okay. then I pulled another bomber I bought around three years ago out, thinking to take it to tasting and share, but as so many in "cellar" have oxydized so horrbly I just drank it.
Well, it was magnificent. Smooth and rounded, full and as perfect a stout had in Texas at tail end of summer coulod be.
Only airconditioning was better. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 10, 2006 An absolute joy! This deep black brew gives up primarily roasted barley in the nose but a well-balanced blend of coffee, chocolate, and smoothly accented nuts on the taste buds. It washes down creamy and smooth, with just a touch of hops in the finish. All in all, a damned fine porter. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 8, 2006 22 oz bottle. Pours a thick mud color with a nice creamy head that disipates slowly. Not to much to say for the aroma, mild sweetness with subtle hints of chocolate, vanilla, and oats. Flavor is a different story. I really like how balanced this stout is, nice creamy mouthfeel with tastes of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and a roasty toasted flavor. My wife who never drinks stouts, actually liked it. Not to heavy, nice balanced flavor, and a subtle bitter aftertaste. chimpscampee (566), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 29, 2006 Smooth and tight like a pool ball. It just seems this brewer/brew had a vision or achieved a nice harmony. I really like the beer and would have rated it higher if the aroma was any good.
