| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 11, 2006 Brown/black beer with a small bubbly head. Can definitely smell and taste the (strong) hops, but I also taste sweet vanilla and there is a nice roasty finish. The palate is slightly watery, but this is a very drinkable beer. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2006 Really very dark with a reddish tinge. the head was very ephemeral, and too many bubbles streaming to the top. The aroma was mostly roasty coffee, though there was some floral hop notes and a little something lactic. The palate was a little sharp due to the fizziness with a bit too much wateriness to the body. I have to say the flavor is this beer’s strength. Good roasty tones accompanied by hops (which is a rare combo due to conventions of the style). There’s also some alcohol taste and 1 definite sweetness to the beer and a fine charcoal bitterness aftertaste. A highly drinkable beer indeed. kramer (2510), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2006 12 oz bottle, via puzzl. Dark black pour with a thin covering of light brown head. Deep roasty aroma with some coffee, black strap molassas, chocolate, and oats. Fairly aggressively hopped with lots of roast on the flavor. Finish is bitter and has lots of espresso and burnt toast. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation, mouthfeel alternates between creamy and oily with various sips. A decent roasty stout with moderate bitterness. One certainly worth trying. beerbuzzmontreal (2922), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
