Feb 16, 2006 Pours very dark, almost black, with a dark tan head. Looks great to start but the head disappears without a trace quickly. Aromas are pleasant but odd for an oatmeal stout. I get the expected chocolate and coffee, but also something like a Unibroue Belgian? I must be imagining, since I love the Unibroues. The flavor is mild yet full, with the chocolate, coffee, molasses, and roasted dark malts. Also a good deal of cola character. Not too sweet and nothing over the top. Feels a little watery at times and other times full and silky. Very good, and a good buy at $7.99 for a six pack at Broudy’s, Jacksonville FL.

Feb 15, 2006 Bread, bakers cocoa, molasses,coffee, and roasted nuts nose. Good conditioning with nice head retention. Fruit and roasted malts on the palate with a full rich mouthfeel. Clean full and lingering finish.

Feb 7, 2006 (Bottle) Purchased at Beers of the World in Rochester, NY. Pours a large tan head with an opaque body. Nose is very molasses with undertones of coffee. Very roasty malt flavour with a coffee finish. Some bitter chocolate. Good but I still prefer Boreal or St. Ambroise...

Feb 5, 2006 Black pour with deep brown head, big bubbles that quickly disappear. Strong aroma of roasted malts with hints of sweet licorice. The flavor is full of roatsted, toasted malts and a bit of sweet chocolate. Slight bitter hops in the background. Buttery smooth mouthfeel with long hop finish.

Feb 4, 2006 Poured so dark it looked like used motor oil. I couldn’t even see through it when holding it up to the light. Aroma is slightly off from other descriptions...kind of malty-medicine with a slight hint of alcohol. Small chocolate colored head. Disapeared quickly with no lacing. Slight sweet start. The flavors seem to bouce on the tongue like the cabonation is causing it and then it has a definite roast flavor finish. I get non of the alcohol flavor in the taste that I get in the smell.

Feb 3, 2006 The aroma has quite a bit of chocolate, coffee, and toasted malt. The appearance is almost black with a small but foamy head. The flavor is sweet and moderately bitter with all the elements from the aroma. The palate is thick enough to make it smooth and enjoyable. A nice stout.
