Pale amber body shows a shy off-white head that quickly leaves us. Perfumey malt nose of adequate complexity hints at almonds, vanilla, berries and chocolate. Rather sweet palate, despite being a few years old, it kept a solid mouthfeel, light on the carbonation, but sticky and with a lasting bittering hops finish. Devoid of acidity, well nutty and sweet in a fruity, grapey, juicy way. Good barleywine.

Scorching caramel malt and blistering peach syrup…Grinning plump grapes and screeching hop flowers…Rough but flavorful example...

Tap @ brewery. Rich amber with an off-white head. Sweet apricot, apple, and caramel flavors. Sticky. Dark resinous fruit aroma. Re-Rate Tap @ Toronado Barley Wine Festival. A murky brown. Flavored with raisin, apples, alcohol, brandy, and malts.

On Tap @ Lucky Baldwin’s Barleywine fest 2005 Listed as 1999 on the program.

Dense reddish brown appearance. Fruity cherry malt aroma with fresh wild flower hoppiness. Sweet fruity malt palate, ginger balance cuts through. Lingering dried cherry and ginger aftertaste. Very interesting witha refreshing balance.

Deep ruby red color with a moderate amount of white foam at the peak.Lots of licorice and alcohol blended with some bitter tart. The breath resembles the afterburner fumes coming off of an F-16.

Barley Wine Fest: Toronado. Deep amber, cloudy and dim colr. totally headless. A bit doughy in the nose, some salt, thick, worty, softened hop finish. Tasted a less yeasty sample that was better. July 2001, tap, Eureka, CA. Malty aroma on alcohol vapors, fairly still, multidimensional malt, sweet and hoppy and with appreciable punch! Very nice.

Sweet dark fruits and molasses nose with a slight touch of Diacetyl. Citrusy hop charcter with almost no carbonation. Thin mouthfeel that falls flat at mid palate. Some oxidation notes without the usual oloroso notes of a barleywine.
