Draft. Blackish beer with a big off-white head. Chocolate and grainy malt aroma. Malty, chocolate, slight roast flavor - needs more chocolate. Slightly tannic. Medium body. Lingering malt and roast and chocolate.

Tap at Cafe Tu Tu Tango in Orlando. Poured a chocolate color with a light beige head. Very nice lacing. Nose of chocolate and a hint of kona cofee. Flavor is tons of mild dark chocolate and a little coffee. Fairly low bitterness and a very mild and tasty session beer. This is very very good.

Draught. Poured deep dark brown with thin tan head. Slight but pleasant aroma of chocolate and roast. Increased aroma as beer warmed. Chocolate and expresso notes in flavour. Light sweet chocolate finish that departed quickly. Not truly great, but not bad either.

A very ordinary chocolate porter that is very easy to drink, refreshing and satisfying. On tap at the bier stein, it looked like a glass of frothy black blood with a cemetary dirt colored head.

On draft a the Lost Coast Brewpub in Eureka, CA this poured a dark brown with fluffy tan head and lots of lacing. Good start. Nose is roasted malts with chocolate, coffee and some earthy hops. Mouthfeel very rich and smooth. Flavor of roasted malts and chocolate. Mild bitter finish. Good porter and best if allowed to warm up a bit.

(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasty and sweet with some chocolate and coffee aromas. Flavor is a bit watery at the start but very roasty soon after. Chocolate is present but not overpowering. Blends well with the coffee and cream flavors to produce a smooth and sweet flavor near the end. Aftertaste is bitter from the coffee flavors.

On tap at Lost Coast. Pours a lighter dark brown for the style, with a ring of a greyish white head. The nose is sweet, but not too round without much character. Maybe some bitter chocolate over nondescript roast. Not much of a light floral hop note here or there. The mouth is about middle of the road. Definitely carbonated, definitely not too thick. The flavor is along the lines of the nose. I had to really let this one warm up, served way too cold. Even still, I only got some bitter chocolate, some light caramel sweetness. Some small roast. No real depth or complexity. Not a terrible beer, but not an interesting beer, and that’s what I go for these days.

On tap at Hops and Props in Seattle. Black with creamy brown head. Good dose of chocolate, and a nice, roasty malt sweetness. Very light, and not overly sweet. OK.
