blackmurder (163), sadf, Hawaii, USA May 7, 2008 A very ordinary chocolate porter that is very easy to drink, refreshing and satisfying. On tap at the bier stein, it looked like a glass of frothy black blood with a cemetary dirt colored head.
darkguardian (131), Florida, USA Jul 5, 2008 Tap at Cafe Tu Tu Tango in Orlando.
Poured a chocolate color with a light beige head. Very nice lacing. Nose of chocolate and a hint of kona cofee. Flavor is tons of mild dark chocolate and a little coffee. Fairly low bitterness and a very mild and tasty session beer. This is very very good. troopie (430), USA Jun 8, 2008 Draught. Poured deep dark brown with thin tan head. Slight but pleasant aroma of chocolate and roast. Increased aroma as beer warmed. Chocolate and expresso notes in flavour. Light sweet chocolate finish that departed quickly.
Not truly great, but not bad either. rkuhnel (951), Eureka, California, USA Apr 27, 2008 On draft a the Lost Coast Brewpub in Eureka, CA this poured a dark brown with fluffy tan head and lots of lacing. Good start. Nose is roasted malts with chocolate, coffee and some earthy hops. Mouthfeel very rich and smooth. Flavor of roasted malts and chocolate. Mild bitter finish. Good porter and best if allowed to warm up a bit. zach8270 (1404), Henrietta, New York, USA Apr 12, 2008 (draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasty and sweet with some chocolate and coffee aromas. Flavor is a bit watery at the start but very roasty soon after. Chocolate is present but not overpowering. Blends well with the coffee and cream flavors to produce a smooth and sweet flavor near the end. Aftertaste is bitter from the coffee flavors.
