Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Huge thanks to Brent (Redlight) for sending this over via Solan. Muted cocoa aroma with hints of chocolate and toasted malt. The body is brown with a thin off white to tan head. Coffee, roast malt, cocoa and tangy dark fruits. Thin bodied. Doesn’t really wow, but drinkable enough. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Dec 8, 2007 Rich and roasty with a soft burnt chocolate finish. Very smooth with a bitter finish. Cocoa flavors show from the toasty malts. Good easy drinking porter/stout. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Nov 25, 2007 Date: 11/17/2007

Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2007 Courtesy of SoLan. Pours a clear dark brown with amber edges and weak tan head. It has a mild aroma that comes off sweet with caramelized malts and vague fruitiness. The flavor is sweet with mildly caramelized malts, mild nuttiness and maybe faint burnt malts. It ends sweet and slightly roasty. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2007 Thanks to Brent for allowing SoLan to fill this growler and bring it to the Tampa gathering. Pours black, with just the slightest white head. Smells of dark fruits, really no roasty esters, maybe some mild chocolate in there too. Nothing inspiring here. The taste is pretty subtle all around. the chcolate, roast, and malts were all there, but there just isnt anything exciting about this beer at all. drinkable, but forgettable. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2007 Growler... Dark burnt orange ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Earthy, metallic aroma with notes of cocoa and roasted nuts. The flavor is simple cocoa and water with moderate bitterness. Barely medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Watery, cocoa finish. Props to redlight for sending this growler to the Tampa gathering via SoLan! JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Oct 19, 2007 Pretty mild roast aroma overall, a tad bit of of chocolate. Color is black with a bit of white head at the edges. Clean palate, lightly carbonated. Slight roast character on the taste, moves through to the finish, but there’s not much else going on. Kind of bland. Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 16, 2007 Draft at Redlight. Like its coffee flavored counterpart (LC Double Java Porter), it sports a dark mahogany body that lets a little light through. There’s a creamy tan head that leaves behind a microfilm sheet of lacing. The aroma is muted, showing roasted caramel, faint chocolate malts, and traces of dark fruits. The flavor is comprised of darkly roasted caramel, nougat, chocolate malts, and mild floral hops. Very malty overall. The body felt less substantial than the Java version, though still nice. Smooth and easy to drink, but lacking depth or originality. Sessionable. I much prefer the Double Java version.
