Bittersweet dark chocolate, light dose of milk chocolate, light roastiness. Flavor adds a bit of licorice. Medium to medium/full body, smooth, easy to drink, nice on the palate. Enjoyable porter. Aroma seems a bit muted, but I do pick up some chocolatey notes with some roasted malts. a tinge of acidity. Flavor is light chocolate, some coffee hints. Very drinkable. Like its coffee flavored counterpart (LC Double Java Porter), it sports a dark mahogany body that lets a little light through. There’s a creamy tan head that leaves behind a microfilm sheet of lacing. The aroma is muted, showing roasted caramel, faint chocolate malts, and traces of dark fruits. The flavor is comprised of darkly roasted caramel, nougat, chocolate malts, and mild floral hops. Very malty overall. The body felt less substantial than the Java version, though still nice. Smooth and easy to drink, but lacking depth or originality. Sessionable. I much prefer the Double Java version. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 8, 2007 Rich and roasty with a soft burnt chocolate finish. Very smooth with a bitter finish. Cocoa flavors show from the toasty malts. Good easy drinking porter/stout. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 1, 2007 Courtesy of SoLan. Pours a clear dark brown with amber edges and weak tan head. It has a mild aroma that comes off sweet with caramelized malts and vague fruitiness. The flavor is sweet with mildly caramelized malts, mild nuttiness and maybe faint burnt malts. It ends sweet and slightly roasty. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Thanks to Brent for allowing SoLan to fill this growler and bring it to the Tampa gathering. Pours black, with just the slightest white head. Smells of dark fruits, really no roasty esters, maybe some mild chocolate in there too. Nothing inspiring here. The taste is pretty subtle all around. the chcolate, roast, and malts were all there, but there just isnt anything exciting about this beer at all. drinkable, but forgettable. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Pretty mild roast aroma overall, a tad bit of of chocolate. Color is black with a bit of white head at the edges. Clean palate, lightly carbonated. Slight roast character on the taste, moves through to the finish, but there’s not much else going on. Kind of bland. redlight (1496), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Just a few kegs sent to Florida. The only info i have is the paper keg ring. maybe this is an alias? but the label says Double Porter. Vanilla, sweet aroma, hints of roasted malts and small amounts of chocolate. Dark brown, very dark red in the light, with a thick tan head. Smooth, roasty, vanilla, hints of chocolate, sweet tasting. Pretty mild but very drinkable.
