Tried this for the first time at Hops in Humboldt 2007 in Fortuna today. Being a great fan of Indica IPA I had high hopes for this one. It looks a lot like Indica with a rich copper hue and off-white head and wonderful lacng. Look fabulous in the glass. .Nose was hoppy but fairly mild but really nice to savor. Malts with fruit overtones, and citrus hops wash across the nose. Good rich mouthfeel. Flavors of tropical fruits set off fhe hoppy bitterness well. Nice long bitter finish. Every bit as good as Indica. I am going to take my growler down so I can blind taste test it against Indica.

Draft @ the brewpub. Clear, bright copper color with an ivory head. Doesn’t have anywhere near the hop aroma I’d expect from an IIPA. Fruity malt flavor with a big bitterness. It’s all there but the aroma.

I just found my notes for this rating. Sampled on draft at the Federal in Durham, NC. Oranger amber color with a large white head. Big malty brew with piney hops and light grapefruit. Well balanced. Sticky sweet. Good bitter finish. Is there rye in this?

Tap at Brother Tuckers. Amazing hop floral nose. Sweet, juicy, fresh, pungent hops. Taste was minimal amounts of bread, wheat germ, awashed in massive hops. Sweet, syrup. Body was too thin. Hid the 8.5% very well.

Draught. Okay, I had quite high hopes for this one based on the tastiness of their Indica, but I was slightly let down. Pours a cloudy orange hue with a fluffy whitish head. The nose is bright with hints of pineapple, green tea, grapefruit, and caramel. Mouthfeel is quite sticky with suggestions of dense caramel, lemon zest, grapefruit, and menthol. Balance among the flavors is achieved well and the presentation is pretty good. I’d drink this often if it was readily available, I was just hoping for something notably superior to their Indica.

Pours with a slightly cloudy, amber body topped by a thin head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet and fruity with slight caramel notes and a hoppy bitter finish. Seems more like an English IPA than a IIPA. Medium to full bodied and slightly dry.

Draft at Carlsbad Pizza Port. Good hop aroma. Flavor was good also; mostly citrus, floral, and tropical hops. Good balance with the malt.
