Cloudy reddish amber, small creamy head. Grapefruity nose where resin already comes through. Sweet with bold straightforward mouthfeel and solid body. The bitterness strikes hard and early, and reaches punishing levels. Meanwhile there’s notes of mango and cookies. A typical American macho beer with punk attitude. hopdog (5611), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Not sure if this is the same as he had it as the ’Double Trouble Pilsner’, but I’ll use this as a place holder just in case. Poured a medium and cloudy golden color with a small sized white head. Aromas of some grassiness, floral, and toasty. Tastes of the same floral and toastiness with some caramel and citrus in the end. JoeMcPhee (5025), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Tap at Blind TIger. Beautiful amber-orange colour with a thick creamy sticky head. Aroma is very much like fresh cereal, sweet cookie dough/biscuity malts with notes of wildflower honey. Aroma is also lightly floral and fruity. Some orange peel, grapefruit and more sweet honey. Very low on cohumulones giving it an extremely soft but lingering bitterness. Quite fruity, but not the usual C-hop combination. There is a fairly berryish sweetness and a light herbal quality as well. Seems barleywinish in the way that the sweet cookie dough malts seem to dominate the hops. An unusual take on the IIPA style. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2008 Draft @ Belmont Station. Dark tawny brown colored body with a soft and thick tan head. Sweet and chewy sugared cherry nose with heavy notes of sweet caramel malt and maraschino cherries. Rich, tangy, peppery black cherry hops greet the tongue, and the light toast and sweet caramel in the back combined with a well-rounded fullness and frothyness is quite enjoyable. More like those imperial red ales than a double IPA. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Draft at DRE. Turbid deep dull gold pour with off-white head. Hop, spicy fruit, and bready malt aroma, with the bready malt dominating the taste, and a solid but not overpowering hop presence. Not a hop bomb, but rather a somewhat citric, hopped up blonde ale with some bready and spicy finsihing notes. This one needs to define its criteria, and then master those criteria. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Draft pint at KClingers. Reddish amber with a firm pillowy head. Oily hop aroma. Full bodied drinker with lots to it -- thick and woodsy, with a heavy spicy twist and a big earthy finish. Tangy and metallic at the end. Good IPA with some gusto. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 31, 2009 On tap at Capones. Pours a very cloudy hazel amber orange...heck it looks like thick apple cider. First pour off the keg though so I think half my glass was the yeast sitting on bottom if keg. Head was medium, creamy off white. Aroma was almost more of an aged barleywine, caramel, pine, dark fruits and very malty. Flavor of caramel, dark fruits, pine, lots of hop bitterness.
