12 oz. bottle in pint glass: Root beer brown in color, poured fizzy. Medium body, pronounced malts, minerally, tart finish.

Pours amber / brown with a rich tan head. The aroma has roasted nutty malt, coffee notes and dark butterscotch. Medium / thin body with a light amount of sharp carbonation. The flavor begins with sweet nutty malt, caramel, some cardboard, pepper and a fairly biting aspect. The finish is pretty bland. This was not very enjoyable, but I don’t know if it is the brewers fault since I don’t know the age of the bottle. This will be rerated if I can get a known fresh bottle.

On tap at Bar Louie (Tampa, FL). Pours a rich mohagany/brown with a tan head. Sweet malt aroma with a hint of hops and slight nuttiness. Flavors include caramel, brown sugar, roasted malts, and hops. Very smooth and drinkable.

Clear light brown with a quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma of mild caramel, nuts and toffee. Taste is more of the same, a little thin. Maybe a step up from Newcastle, but nothing to write home about.

From a 22 oz. bottle purchased locally. Aroma is malty with a slight hint of roast. Color is brown with some red highlights. Small tan head that fades quickly. Brilliantly clear. Flavor is toasty with hop bitterness. Malt comes through with a little roast in the back end. Fairly dry with a medium body and very balanced.

Sweet charcoal aroma. Skunky, wet, moldy vegetation. Deep roasted malt notes. Woodsy coffee flavor reminesent of a porter. Minor licorice notes. Gets nutty in the finish; walnuts and almonds. some fruitiness comes out as it warms. Palate is uninspiring.

Awesome American Brown Ale. Rich and malty with roated, nutty undertones. Finishes slightly hoppy and sweet - a real treat!
