Smells of pretty big malts, nuts, and light roast. Typical brown ale aromas. Good amount of nuttiness in the flavor, some semi-sweet malts, and a dose of some caramel in there as well. Pretty light palate, could have used a little more body to it. Decent drinking brown ale, but nothing special. mcnally (114), Burbank, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Updated: Mar 30, 2008bottle. decently priced at the local grocery store. Deep mohogany pour (darker than most brown ales) with an inch head that diminishes to a nice film. Malt forward nose yields to a great balance of malt, nut, and pleasant hops. Definitely full-bodied but not heavy. Great! jwedwards74 (6), Merriam, Kansas, USA does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 13, 2008 The hint of Chocolate and deep aroma are balanced by an overwhelmingly mild ending. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Nutty and chocolate malt character in the nose. Slight bit of roast is also apparent. Opaque darkest brown body is topped by a low, fine bubbled, cream coloured head that recedes rapidly to a large bubbled and thin cover that lasts well. Nutty malt flavour is unfortunately a bit watery. Some chocolate sweetness and a touch of fruitiness. Roasted bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. Light medium body is somewhat thin and astringent. Carbonation is pointy and sharp. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, Jan-08). SHIG (2037), Aviano, Italy
