Commercial Description:
A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale, lightly hopped with a hint of roasted and crystal malts. This ale is dark in color without the heavy taste of porter or stout.

Poured a very small head with little carbonation. Whispy off-white top. Deep brown body. Great aroma of sweet malts that was not too pungeant. Decent for the style.

Bottle from IrishBoy. Lightly roasty, salty, coffee aroma. Similar flavor, kind of chocolately. Goes down easy, and is very nice when warm.

Dark brown translucent color, almost no head and no carbonation, resembles a flat cola. Appearance is unimpressive. Really hard to pick up any aroma. Using my imagination, I can invision a faint hint of sweet malt. Light palate thats easy to drink - the first good thing going for this one, but it lacks real carbonation pop. The flavor follows the aroma, its basically lacking any. Slight malt taste, mostly watery and certainly not nutty to resemble the name. Downtown Brown is Down and Out Boring. Completely forgettable and not worth another try.

Bottle. Brown color and a thin head. Aroma is sweet - caramel. Flavor also sweet but with an acidic tang. They have a good balance going.

I have home-brewed nut brown ales and was real glad to see this in the store, and elated to taste just how good this beer is!

650 ml bottle. Pours adark red brown with a tan head that fades at a moderate pace. Aroma was light with indistinct malts. Flavor was subtle with cherries, earth, and almonds. Hops were light in a supporting role. Mouthfeel was clean with a slight film. Finish was long and slightly sweet. A vary good beer that I will drink again.
