Aroma was light with indistinct malts. Flavor was subtle with cherries, earth, and almonds. Hops were light in a supporting role. Mouthfeel was clean with a slight film. Finish was long and slightly sweet. A vary good beer that I will drink again. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Wonderful and creamy on the tongue! Not too heavy or dense at all. This was a turn-around beer for me. I really enjoyed it (and did not expect to)- can’t wait to try it again. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 8, 2007 The brown ale did not have as much flavor as the others I have tried. It may have been a bad batch based on other reviews. It had a good malt flavor but not very strong or complex at all. dankbrewqueen (41), Morongo Valley, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 6, 2007 12 oz bottle a friend brought over for dinner. Pour is brown with a khaki head. Aroma has some nice toasted malt, a touch of sweet and nutty. Taste is more of the same, a nice drinkable blend of malt, cocoa sweetness and nuttiness. Would be a nice session beer, and it was great with Brats. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 2, 2007 Dark brown pour, with short lived, light tan bubbly head that doesn’t last. Smell is basically just nutty, and reminds me of a nut brown ale. Taste is a light coffee flavor, and nutty malt taste. Smooth body, but overall I thought it was just a very average brown ale. Easy drinking, not bad in any way, but I wouldn’t put this high on my list. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2007 pours caramel brown with red highlights with a two finger fluffy light tan head. aroma is roasted caramel malt with a touch of hops and dark fruit. has a medium body with good lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma with some coffee. coffee lingers in the aftertaste and is a bit stronger at the end. a pretty descent brown ale. has a creamy smooth mouth-feel as well. as it warms there is a nutty flavor that comes out and the hops come out a bit more also. it is a little sticky and a lot more coffee and nutty flavor than i expected. a lot better beer than i expected!
