22 oz. bottle best by Aug. 2005: Definitely didn’t notice the best buy date when I bought this out of the bargain bin for $1.88. The beer pours a deep caramel with little head retention. Lots of sugary caramels and crystal in the nose. The body is equally sweet, noting toffee, sweet raisins and caramel. After nearly two years this is still really drinkable with no oxidation.

Sweet and smoky with hints of coffee and charcoal flavor, and a bit of spice at the finish, it’s tasty but not great. [12 oz. bottle, BevMo]

On Tap at the brewery September 2006: Nice roasted mald nose. Dark brown-red color, small head on top. Light roasted taste. Good bodied Brown Ale!

12 oz bottle into pint glass. Head quickly dissapears. Nutty smell. Taste sticks to the back of your tongue. Smooth, roasted nutty flavor with hints of coffee. No lacing to be found. Not bad at all, but nothing special.

Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Flavor seems to be a bit bland. Nothing special.

Light dark roasted malt, clear brown color. Sweet caramel malt with a hint of molasses. Light nutty end with a little bitter. Crisp texture. Smooth and drinkable. Goes well with the pub grub served at the brewpub.
