Pours dark brown w/ one finger semi creamy froth. Aroma is brisk w/ a floral hop. Light necar w /ample residual effers. Flavors are slightly fruity w/ citrus and a faint dried black cherry. Balanced bittering on the finish. Overall: very mellow w/ a fruity character.

Poured go figure a brown color with good head and good lacing. Aroma was very malty some coffee in there as well. Flavor was coffee caramel and not woody but smokey. Very well balanced good brown but not the best i have had.

Pours with an initially three-finger thick, lightly browned, tan colored head that sits atop a brilliantly clear, dark brown colored brew that shows deep red highlights when held up to the lamp. A bright mix of berry fruit notes and roasted malt greets my nose. This is really intensely fruity, at least compared to my expectations; sweet notes of blueberries and cherries are most notable. An appropriate, lightly nutty, roasted grain character is also here in the aroma. It is joined by some toasted grain notes and toasted biscuit notes. I can’t get over how sweet and fruity this beer smells though, it almost seems artificial, though at this point is more intriguing than distracting.

Up front this beer tastes like a normal brown ale; dry, lightly roasted grain, mixes with some nutty toasted malt notes, and a bit of caramelized malt. After that though that almost fake berry fruit note starts to grip the flavor profile. Really quite interesting, if I had this beer blind I would swear to you that they added fruit extracts to this beer. The fruitiness has that same one dimensional, too intense fruit character to it that fruit extracts generally have. This is quite light on the palate, and if not for the uncharacteristic fruitiness would be quite quaffable. As it is though, it is a little too much, the fake berry fruit notes just is too much to make this really enjoyable. It is not bad, just unexpected.

Poured the usual, perhaps deeper than average, brown color with a generous initial head, ok retention, good lacing. The aroma was sweet malts, some coffee and nutty notes. The flavor was nuts, coffee, caramel, some molasses, and a smoky/peat type background. The blends of flavors reminded me a bit of the DFH Indian Brown, although this was sweeter (too much crystal malts?) and maltier and not as peaty. Not a highly drinkable brown (one 22ozer was enough), but it was decent.

Extremely nice, nutty and caramelly with hints of strawberry, a little tart with a sweet, honey-like lingering. Yet it’s refreshing and not overwhelmingly complex. Very drinkable.

Poured dark brown with a ruby red tint. Smelled of sweet caramel malts and slight hops. Had a small, short lived, tan head. Had a smooth taste, not very complex. Hints of caramel and nut and mild hop. The palate was a little thin and slighty carbonated. The finish was nutty with a hint of hops.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of toasty malts and a little bit of nuts and hops. Drinks nice with a bit of a bitter finish. A very nice brown.

On tap poured a clear brown with a tan colored head. The aroma had roast, caramel and some toffee notes. The taste was mostly roast with a good hop balance and a nice clean finish. A good brown, but not good enough to compete with the best.
