Like the player, this beer features a balanced attack and a smooth, likeable style.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 19, 2006 The 12 ounce bottle poured a clear, reddish-brown beverage with an medium sized, frothy, off-white head that was mostly diminishing and left fair lacing on the glass The aroma was wonderful. It had had notes of raisin and pear and port along with a light caramel malt presence. The body was medium to full with a slightly oily texture and soft carbonation. The flavor started off moderately fruity and sweet and although the initial sweetness faded a bit, it managed to last through the long finish. burpfrank (292), carpinteria, California, USA

Thin enough to allow a fair amount of light through. Good foamy head. Roasted flavour. Reminds me of KB Winter Pudding. jhwarfield (123), USA

All the right pieces, but it doesn’t seem to pull them all together into something special. Cable (286), SE, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 23, 2006 Sampled from bottle. Pours clear, dark brown with a rocky head and frothy lacing/ Aroma is rich & malty with a bit of citrus zest. Flavor is well-balanced, with cocoa, toasted bread and a hint of dark fruit. Medium-light body and lightly carbonated. Seems as it has been cold-conditioned as it is quite smooth with no rough edges. An easy-drinking beer that I’d pick up as a session ale if it were available here. frizzzzle (70), Overland Park, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 19, 2006 This beer pours a translucent but very dark brown, with a bit of red in there. The head was very thin with jumping bubbles, and lasted only a few seconds. There is no lacing or lasting head whatsoever. The beer smells malty and of heavy alcohol, although I had to try to smell anything. There is almost no alcohol warmth in the taste. I’m going to say the beer’s character is on the sweet side, however it’s extremely well balanced, and the flavor is nice and mellow overall. Over time, the beer becomes drier. The primary flavor is of roasted malt. Carbonation is bubbly and sharp, and the beer finishes dry. This beer is affordable and easy to drink.
