Nice cocoa aroma with some light caramel and a little hint of coffee. The taste is light coffee and cream. There is also a hint of caramel in the finish. A decent brown that could use a little more character. However, there is nothing wrong with this one. Sammy (4024), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Nothing really great about this one, just a slightly hoppier version of a brown ale than I am used to. Great malt character, perfectly roasted and slightly nutty. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2005 Dark brown with reddish/orange hues. Timid roasted malt aroma. Light to medium bodied with a nice soft mouth feel. Roasted malt flavors are complimented by a touch of coffee and chocolate and finishes with a gentle roasted nuttiness. A quality beer. bigrond (1052), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 31, 2005 This seems decent but i’m new to the brown ale thing. I think the problem is that - The first brown ale a I had from Dogfish Head Indian Brown and nothing else has compared. THis beer is average at best. nick76 (2669), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 30, 2005 The aroma has coffee, caramel, chocolate, and a very light hopping. The appearance is a dark red brown with a small head. The flavor is similar to the aroma. It is sweet and acidic with chocolate, caramel, and coffee. The palate is thin, too thin really. Not bad tasting but it needs a little work. demartino (6), USA does not count | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 30, 2005 well, this looks good in a pint glass, a healthy brown color. for a darker ale, it’s relatively smooth and free from any bitter/coffee tastes that i don’t like so much. it does have a lot of the things i do like about darker beers going for it: pretty good complexity (nutty, malty, and yeah, just a little sweet) and a bold presence on the palate.
