Very simular to the Rogue Hazelnut. Lots of caramel with a hint of chocolate. Nice carbonation, nice lacing, small light thin head. AndrewM (126), Waco (Buckle of the Bible Belt), Texas, USA

I’m catching light hops in the aroma, with a bit of caramel. Flavor’s pretty plain, little chocolate, little sweet, little hops. Mouthfeel is good though, nicely carbonated and refreshing. Not bad. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2005 A healthy array of malt fills the aroma. It is coffee brown in color and produces a decent head. The taste is one of malt hinted with the presence of chocolate. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 8, 2005 Deep red almost black color. A medium bold aroma with malty hints. Palate and flavor isn’t as full as the color and aroma would suggest, but all in all a decent brown ale. Tmoney99 (4749), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Cost Plus in La Jolla, CA) This is an extremely well-aged bottle that I unearthed from my beer cellar; it’s probably around 18 months old. Chocolaty, nutty and somewhat sweet, I’d say this beer has picked up a moderately roasty and smoky character from the aging. Hops is mild, as is the bitterness. Chocolaty and toasty in the nose. Body is medium, carbonation is gentle. Gorgeous mahogany color shows good clarity, so there is a modest translucence to this beer. The light tan head rises to about an inch on the pour before gradually settling to a wide ring. A broken spiderweb of lace remains on the glass. I guess I never have to worry about sitting on a sixer of this one, this has aged wonderfully, possibly even improved from the intensified roastiness. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 2, 2005 bottle. opaque brown-mahogany body with a short-lasting creamy tan head. aroma has mostly chocolate and almond/nougat properties. carbonation is quite high and it seems that this beer is quite watery most of the time. it’s bitter up front and leads into chocolate malt flavour. thin and uninteresting. par.
