It’s a great subtle brown ale. Slightly sweet and certainly not overpowering. I’d definitely buy this ale for myself. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2005 Not a bad brown ale. Opaque brown body with no head. Light malty aroma with caramel and chocolate. Maybe a hint of nuts as well. Finishes slightly sweet, and a little acidic. Simple and enjoyable. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2005 Bottle (12oz). Poured a deep clear ruby-brown with a lasting thick foamy tan head. Aroma of roast malt, chestnuts, caramel and a touch of wine. Taste follows the nose, but I get some vague resiny hops and quite a bit of sour aged fruit - cherry and plum mostly. Mostly. Finishes somewhat bitter and tart - very nice, if not complex - average body, a little syrupy even, but a touch too flat. Decent brown. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2005 Not a bad brown ale, a dark chestnut color with a light tan head. The aroma is roasted and nutty malt with some light apple fruitiness and a touch of chocolate. The flavor retains the fruit with a lightly roasted malt and a touch of nutty bitterness that intensifies slightly in the finish. Session stuff.

Didn’t happen to my dismay. Dark ruby brown. Overall Folger’s coffee + semi bittersweet chocolates, some caramel, and even some nuttyness thing going on here. More or less with reverse effects....kinda putting me to sleep. Great taste but dunno. Kinda boring this one. Nothing to really wrack ones noggin on. Kinda thin finish. Not too bad overall though. ryandrinksbeer (10), USA

The dark brownitude is not overpowering, and there’s a nice subtle chocolateyness, but nothing too bitter. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 19, 2005 Bottle - nice chocolatey aroma. Fairly dark and dense for a brown. Beige head. A very nice chocolate flavor as well. Thinnish palate that is typical for the style. Actually a nice beer ... for a brown ale.
