Commercial Description:
A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale, lightly hopped with a hint of roasted and crystal malts. This ale is dark in color without the heavy taste of porter or stout.

Draft... Clear, dark ruby ale with a small, creamy, white head. The nose is subtle chocolate, red wine and vanilla. Nicely balanced and a bit tangy. Nutty with chocolate and vineous notes. Medium-bodied and very lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Finishes creamy and barely bitter. Not much to it, really.

Bottle: This brew poured a nice light brown head. This looked nice with the dark chocolate color. The head was mostly diminishing with little lacing to note. There are strong roasted malts with mild hops providing a slightly bitter aftertaste. There was more carbonation that I expected. Overall, I enjoyed the nutty aftertaste and the thin, yet creamy feel. It was powerful to the tongue, but smooth on the swallow. Not bad!

22oz. (Bottled on March 2005) Could barely get any aroma out of this brown ale, but there was a small nose of toffee. Had a nice soft head over a light shade of brown color. Minor ingredients in the flavor like toffee, toasty malt, and some sort of nuts. Rather boring.

Tap @ Beale Street Cafe in Rochester. Pour was a mild brown color with a small diminishing head. I am sure the tap added to the creaminess. Aroma is light carmel and sweetness. Flavor has a very smooth creamy nut/caramel taste. Palate is smooth and exceptionally easy to drink. Overall a nice brown. It went very well with the blackend catfish I had for dinner.

RERATE: Bubbly brown pour with a diminishing head. Aroma is mildly nutty and malty. Nothing real strong. The flavor comes through with a bit more force. Malty and sweet. The right palate really helps this out. Good stuff.

Pour is a dark red with no head. Aroma is of oily hops and nothing really else. Flavor is roasted malts but again nothing else. Pretty bland and watery

Drove all the way to Pavillions , which is about 7 miles, just to check out their beer selection . My uncle said they had a big beer selection. For the most part he was wrong. I did however see this there, and im a big fan of brown ales so i picked it up. I was suprised at how it smelt and taste- almost nothing like the other brown ales ive drank. It had bitter hops which i dont normally taste in brown ales, and which im not a big fan of. luckily it wasnt that strong, and didnt linger. Slight nutty taste and smell, but besides this like i said wasnt nothing at all like other brown ales. Not what i expected, but not bad either.

Bottle. Pours a deep Caramel brown with a small thick head. Nose is pleasant, caramels and malts coming through. Taste is rich, one of the better brown ales I’ve had.

Malty caramel taste that is pleasing. My nose detects toasted nuts. Not a knockout in the flavor department but has pleasent aftertastes that reminds you that you’re drinking an OK brown ale.
