Commercial Description:
A smooth, full-bodied nut brown ale, lightly hopped with a hint of roasted and crystal malts. This ale is dark in color without the heavy taste of porter or stout.

Nice dark brown almost black pour with thin beige head. Looks like a porter. Smells like a porter. Bitter coffee, chocolate and roasted nuttiness but sweet. This is close to a porter as you can get without actually being one. Nice palate, dry with bitter coffee remnants. Very nice.

Bottled. Very Nice. Rich, toasty malts with a nice full body. Lost Coast gets an "A" for this one.

Dark cedar. Scattered light hazel foam with a loose ring of bubbles. Roast, tree bark, and fresh coffee beans in the nose. Subtle roasted nuts presence. Fairly watery with tight carbonation. Very firm in body. Roasty (Vienna?) malt start followed by coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Very little in the way of fruitiness, other than some datelike sweetness. Hard mineral feel is backed with firm cookie malt flavors. Very chocolaty and richly bready, which lends a softer element to the body with a grainy anchor of malt. Burnt toffee, lightly hopped finish kissed with vanilla, oxidized roasted malt tinges, and a black licorice bite. Coffee, burnt toffee, and roasted malt flavors linger on. Plenty intense for this typically bland style, with just enough rough elegance to hold your attention. Does a fine job at not stepping over the extremely fine line which separates brown ale from porter.

Pours a nice brown color. A little hoppy with some roasted malt flavors going on. Has a somewhat nutty flavor to it with a bitter finish.

Thanks to Lord Gorlock for this tasty treat. Pours a rich black/brown color, tan head on top, which disappears relatively quickly. Aroma is very porter-like, with rich coffee and chocolate flavors blending with mild hop spiciness. Flabor is sweet, coffee notes, nuttiness, and a light tobacco flavor. ends nice and dry. I like it.

Nice brown ale, not too bad. Very dark with a tan head, and has a chocolaty aroma, nutty taste also. Good Brew.

Black body with tan head, nothing unusual. Smells of malt, chocolate and coffee. Not very good on the tongue, taste is boring and unimaginative: nuts and chocolate. After is slightly sweet chocolate. Poured from a 12 oz bottle purchase at New World Brewery in Ybor City, Tampa, FL.
