Bottle. Pours clear reddish brown with a decent beige head. Sweet nutty, malty aroma. Taste is still very nutty, but with a little oatmeal and chocolate. Mouthfeel is nice (not too thin), but finish is underwhelming with no hops in sight. Tasty beer.

Appearance- Dark brown color with a tinge of red; creamy light brown foam that persists for a few minutes; intricate, soapy lacing; thin particles Smell- Roasted malt, almost ash-like, nutty and carmel tones Taste- Subtle roasted maltiness; very lightly hopped; short finish with a light bitterness Mouthfeel- Surprisingly light body for a brown ale; watery texture; lively carbonation Drinkability- With its watery texture and underwhelming taste, this is no more than a middle-of-the-road brown ale. Easy to drink, but not very rewarding.

On tap at Zeitgeist in SF. Well-done brown ale. Dark brown appearance with a medium beige head. Malty aroma with some nuttiness. Flavor is heavily malt, some roasted notes, nuts, and maybe a tiny bit of chocolate. Really smooth palate.

Dark brown, hints of red, a smooth half finger of creamy light tan head. Vegetal nuttiness, sweet caramel aroma. Taste is the same with a bad vegetal note.

This beer pours a pretty standard nut-brown color with decent head that dissipated pretty quickly. The aroma of the beer is roasted malts, chocolate, and maybe some caramel. The flavor is hazelnut and chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and nice. The relatively low alcohol and nice flavor make the drinkability pretty high.

APPEARANCE: Pours a brown color with a large tan head that dissipates at an average rate. Moderate lacing. AROMA: Toasted malt. As it warms I get hint of roasted nuts (cashews). FLAVOR: Toasted malt and a little caramel sweetness. Finishes with a bit of chocolate flavor. MOUTHFEEL: Medium body beer that finishes with a slightly syrupy texture. Soft carbonation. DRINKABILITY: A very easy drinking smooth beer. A bit one dimensional for me. NOTES: BBCSD-0901-Steve

Pours brown with a small head. Aroma is nutty, with caramel malt, chocolate, and a touch of grass. Flavor is well-balanced, matching hazelnut sweetness with floral hops. Tasty, but to me there is a limit how good a standard Brown can be.

12 oz bottle purchased from Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Poured a dark, slightly murky brown color with a two finger tan colored head that hung on until the beer was gone. The aroma was caramel and toffee, with a hint of nuts. The flavor was caramel malt with a slight hoppy finish. The body was medium with a slightly creamy mouthfeel, and a good bit of carbonation.
