Commercial Description:
An American version of the Belgian style. This unfiltered beer has a striking translucent, golden color with white clouds. Seemingly a contradiction in terms, it has a full body mouth-feel but is surprisingly light to drink. Topped with a hint of citrus, provided by Coriander and a secret blend of Humbolt herbs, this beer is slightly sweet and a delight to drink in any season.

Clearish pale yellow pour. Aroma yeasty with some citrus notes. Flavor is strange citrus like lemongrass, raw wheat, slightly spiced. Body is smooth enough which makes it a little drinkable... but not very good.

Bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy yellow with minimal head. Nice yeasty, bready aroma. Bready taste, with some sharp spicy notes, and just a little fruity notes. A little high on the carbination. This would probably go well with a lot of buttery sauces, or light, slightly fatty foods, but stands well on its own. Surprised by some of the negative reviews, I found this to be quite nice.

Cloudy orange with thin head. Citrus hop aroma with flavors of tangerine, lemon,& grapefruit. The orange/citrus flavors are strong, but not overpowering - kind of like an "infused" (bordering on artificial) flavor. That said, it’s quite drinkable...

Easy to drink, but really lacking much of the flavo i look for in a wit. Not much spice going on, some citrus flavors. but overall rather bland

Pale yellow with some bubbles on top. Smell is faint and fruity. Tastes watery. Perhaps a bit floral. Overall, this is an extraordinarily boring beer. At least it won’t spoil the taste of my dinner.

Bottle from West Lakeview Liquors, Chicago. Semi-clear pale yellow with small white head. Aroma is very dull spice and malt with some Belgian yeast. Flavor is kind of off, but you can still get the wit backbone of the beer with that almost creamy malt, spices and yeast, still not all that good. Medium creamy body. This is very drinkable but not all that good.

This is not enjoyable to me and pretty much sums up many of the qualities that I don’t like about witbiers, while lacking what I do like about them. It is at the moment my least favourite of the style by a long shot. It is light gold with a very faint hazy quality, medium white head that steadily shrinks to a lasting small foamy top and a little decent lace. The aroma is like a nice lager with grain and herbal hops, but with the additiona of orange and spice with some fruit coming on later. The taste is mostly just orange zest, rather light orange cleaining chemicals, light but definite spices and herbs, a hint of lemon, and a very faint hint of grain. It’s sweet at first followed by a mild, lingering orange-cleaner bitterness. It’s far too orangy with a sticky, lingering citrus-chemical-perfume quality, but it is not nasty and is fairly easy to drink.
