Commercial Description:
An American version of the Belgian style. This unfiltered beer has a striking translucent, golden color with white clouds. Seemingly a contradiction in terms, it has a full body mouth-feel but is surprisingly light to drink. Topped with a hint of citrus, provided by Coriander and a secret blend of Humbolt herbs, this beer is slightly sweet and a delight to drink in any season.

On tap at Papago. A very nice light yellow/gold color. A very white sudsy head. Lots of carbination at the onset of the beer. The aroma was a bit banana/lemony. The taste was a little light (carboard/hops/yeast/fruity) and a little boring, but I really like Whits. RERate from a 3.3: Had both on Tap (Papago in AZ) and in bottle (about the only good thing I can say for Yard House coming into KS - also what my rating is based on): Flavor is a little on the light side, not much in the way of spices a whit should have. Nice appearence though, looks good. Some seriously citrusy flavors, I just worry that, like the bottle says "beer with natural flavors added". Almost seems forced. Good, but not great.

12 oz bottle-pours a slighly hazy yellow hue with a big fizzy/sudsy white head. The appearance doesnt look really belgian wit to me-too thin and not enough haze. Tons of carbonation going up my glass. sulfer, banana, some orange aroma with hints of lemon and funk (but not belgian funk). spritzy body. flavors of orange peal and cardboard mostly. pretty boring, but somewhat refreshing. belgian wit? no-American wheat? YES!

Pours a hazy dull gold color, small whit head. Aroma is banana chips and lemon. Flavor is of feint banana, lemon and honey. Not much flavor and kind of boring.

On draft several times… again last night!
Pours a pale hazy golden orange with a wispy white head. Brings forth mentions of orange peel, banana, a lite doughy yeastyness and a lasting buttery flavor. A rather non-abrasive summer Whitt.

Draft. Golden-orange with a nice white head. orange, malt, wheat, and spice all combining in the aroma. Fruity flavor (curracao) fades to grassy with some wheat. Easy to drink.

Found this of all places in a supermart in WI. Mildly hazy pour and slightly sweet citrus. taste. Nice mouthfeel. Went well with my orange ginger chicken. I gotta find more.

12 oz. bottle, 7/26/07 Finally got a good sample I can rate from. A yellow pour, slightly hazy with a thin head but rings of bubbles clinging to the glass. Once the head goes, I see a robust gold of Belgian pilsener malt. The taste hits equal proportions of light bready malts and spicy orange. No notable hops, but just enough bitterness to keep the malts in check. Not very complex, but I ascribe that to the limitations of bottling an unfiltered beer. Very little yeast at the bottom, just enough to kick up a little haze. "Hard" carbonation of a Belgian dubbel. Refreshing beer for the end of a hot summer day.

Bottled, re-rated 8/27/05. (2.3 of 5.0) I’ve had a small sampler of a better bottle since the taste below, so I can raise my opinion from the previous 1.9. Taste is a bit light and dry for a Belgian, or maybe I can’t get past the surfer boy graphics (your label is part of the presentation, after all. But I keep saying, that won’t stop me from trying it again if I have a chance.
Original rating: 1.9 of 5.0. Sorry, but when I popped the cap, I got a big whiff of vomit. The beer seems to have spoiled, probably because I found it at a bar in Elkhart, IN, where it probably had no business being. As I worked my way further down, thinking "Maybe once it’s breathed, it might get better," it did get a little better. But I found nothing that said this was close to a wit. I am willing to try it if I’m ever out on the coast.
After I posted this review, <a href=http://ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=8341& beermailed me to assure that the beer is generally better than the one I had. Fair enough. Let me reiterate that in all likelihood this bottle was too old and too far from home.
