unclemike (351), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Jun 28, 2008 cloudy and grainy with a frothy white head. flavors of sweet straw malt and grapefruit are predominant. nice aroma. distant pine essence. a touch oily and yes astringent quality to a bitterness that lingers. good body but something that i am not crazy about in the backwash that is dull.-it is a lack of carbonation- nice ipa for a hophead
Biddle_Brau (139), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Sep 7, 2008 Amber with nice lacing. Floral hop aroma with some malt undertones. Hops are prominent in this IPA but malt is not completely over ruled in this. HopBackDoc (337), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2008 On tap at Isaac Newtons. Deep amber color with nice tight white head and nice lacing. Aroma was hops and bread dough. Well balanced taste with sweet and bready malts that paired well with a nice dose of earthy and bittering hops. Full body and very smooth, very drinkable. I love IPA’s and this was a delight to drink without being too over the top with hops (not that there is anything wrong with that!). FlssmrBrewAlum (205), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Aug 30, 2008 12 oz bottle from Charleston’s (New Lenox, IL) poured into a tulip-esque glass. This beer dissappointed a lot. Aromas were weak, with very little hop and sweet malt presence, but a had a very pretty dark amber, almost brown, hazed body with a decent head. Initial is not very hoppy at all, touches of citrus and bitterness dance around a bit, but the malt mainly takes the stage.. and not a very good malt profile at that. Finishes smooth but lacking the body and hop presence I hoped for. Dissappointing, and hopefully a bad batch or something. changeup45 (567), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours a very hazy brown color with a nice fluffy off-white head. Aroma is really faint, rather fresh, with some caramel malt and maybe a grainy scent. Sweet caramel malty flavor with some bitter fruity hops following. Not necessarily an in your face aggressive hoppy kind of IPA but nicely balanced and well-rounded. SSSteve (1527), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 22, 2008 cloudy orange under a large white head. bready malt and hop aroma. citrus hop(orange), and lots of malt in flavor. perfectly balanced. hint of fresh pine. a real good one indeed.
