Sampled on tap at 1702 on 4/23/2009. This old ale pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity, touch of brown sugar/molasses. A medium bodied old ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and earthy. Touch of orange and orange peel flavors throughout this beer. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Tap at Papago in Phoenix: Pours nice with a dark brown hue and a light cream head. Nose of caramel and malt, with a creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Rich and savory up front with strong cocoa and caramel notes, but finishes clean with hoppy character and a tinge of citrus. HIghly recommended!

On tap: Aromas of caramel, toffee, chocolate, and grapefruit. Transparent dark amber with a small off-white head. Very malty up front with caramel, chocolate, and hints of banana bread. Big grapefruit hopped finish. Very similar to some of the hoppier barley wines.

How did this end up in Buffalo? Cloudy ruby brown color, thinner tan head. Caramel, brown sugar, quite malty. Interesting bitterness on the finish, kind of hoppy bitterness but not quite. Hard to put a finger on. General flavor falls between an old ale and a hoppier barley wine. Quite interesting and very enjoyable.

On tap at redlight. Nice amber color. Caramel malty color. and smell. Also so fruitiness in the smell. Flavors of sweet caramel and light hops. This is really easy to drink. Very smooth finish to this.

Rubyish, a nice head. Nose is light but still contains a good amount of malt and brown sugar. Flavor isn’t as vinous as most old ales I’ve had. Not as sweet as a barleywine, but certainly not your typical old ale. Nice stuff.

On tap at Mr. Goodbar in Buffalo, NY: Dark orangeish-brown color with a small white head. Citrusy hop aroma with notes of pine and maple. Some slightly sweet malts and a light toasted flavor followed up by some assertive hops. Pine and oranges in the finish.
