My first sampling came soon after drinking a SUPER hopped up Imperial IPA and may have clouded my jedgement. Seemed nicely balanced. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2005 Pours dark straw with medium off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, fruit. Tastes very hoppy, with a firm malt backbone, and some fruit. Decent balance and good complexity. Finishes more like an IPA than an APA. tobias (155), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 16, 2005 Bottle. Pours a light copper color, pillowy white head, a bit hazy, good lacing on my glass. Poofy head masks the aroma a bit, but mostly a hoppy, mostly pine aroma. Bitter flavor, decent malt character, and hops round out the finish, and a bit of the bottle conditioning yeast at the end. Fairly light bodied for a pale ale, but very smooth, carbonation is a bit on the low side. This has a lot of IPA character in it, not quite as sweet as a good IPA, but hoppier than most pale ales that I’ve had. Pretty good overall. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2005 The beer dispenses from the 22-ounce brown bottle a slightly hazy deep cooper color with a Bunyanesque light tan head that is creamy in texture, after it slowly eroded the lace left behind formed a tight skirt upon the glass. Nose has hints of cotton candy, malt and a touch of the hop flowers; quite a nice sniff with the start somewhat sweet and the malt plentiful, top is fair to middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is sturdy in its acidity, the hops delectable in their spiciness, very dry and long lasting aftertaste, a nice drinking Pale Ale, and another fine beer from an excellent brewery. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2005 22 oz bottle. Rich amber color with a large beige head. Nice mellow malty aroma, sweet, smooth flavor with some floral hop notes. Medium body and easy carbonation. Pleasant beer and definitely a good ’session’ candidate. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 11, 2005 Tasty beer. Not as hoppy as I’d expected from an American Pale Ale. Good flavor, though. It’d get boring if I drank it every day, but it’s good.
