Pours a clear brown with a nice red hue, light tan head. Aroma is dominated by vanilla and mild hops, but only a hint of vanilla. The somewhat sweet taste is primarily raspberry with nice roasted nut undertones. Has an interesting bitter finish and is a well balanced unique beer. I’d try again for sure. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 7, 2009 (22oz bottle) Purchased at Hillside Liquor in Saanich, B.C., for $6.07. Pours a little brown head atop a deep red body. Nose of seedy raspberry. Interesting malt front, sour milk and raspberry finish. I like that its not too sweet and jammy but this is an odd concoction. Raspberry works with the strong malt of an imperial stout but this is neither and both a fruit beer and a malted brown ale at the same time. 7/3/7/3/15 anders37 (4792), Malmö, Sweden

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 26, 2008 650ml brown bottle. Poured a medium brown shade with amber highlights, wispy white head with light lacing. Quite a fragrant beer, strong, sweet raspberry fruit is upfront, some malt aromas beneath. Flavour was of caramel malts, chocolate malts and slight nutty notes. Raspberry fruit sweetness resides behind the malt. Light hop note in the finish, lingering chocolate malts in the aftertaste. Medium body, light carbonation. Quite drinkable, and in the end was more balanced than I was expecting, thankfully the raspberry flavour didnt come across as strongly as it did in the nose.
