Bright raspberry nose with dash of nutmeg--nice. Initial raspberry flavors round to mellow malts and pie crust. Solid effort, surprisingly good. rustychiles (1055), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2008 Pours a deep reddish brown with a small brown head. Aroma of raspberry, chocolate, malt goodness. Flavor is raspberry, chocolate, roasted coffee with a nice smooth finish. Decent brew, but the raspberry flavor was slightly faux. soulgrowl (52), Kitakyushu-shi, Japan
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 Aroma: Mmmmm! Tangy raspberry sauce, Chambord, some cherry cola, and a hint of lime. Some roasted/chocolate malts and a touch alcohol also come through. Kind of reminds me of a raspberry truffle.
Appearance: Looks like Sprecher root beer, deep brown with a creamy tan head. When held up to the light, it glows like cranberry juice. Head reduces to a smooth, cyclone-like swirl that floats atop the brew.
Flavor: Dark, roasted malts and tart raspberries are the dominant flavors. There’s also a cherry soda character, but this is not overwhelmingly sweet or syrupy in the least. The finish is clean and hoppy. A well-balanced ale. Good stuff.
Palate: Full-bodied and a tad tingly. Matches the flavor well.
Overall: Would go great with a chocolate dessert! posikyle (165), Alabama, USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Looks great at first glance. Pours a great deep ruby color with a thick, dense head. I was excited. I wasn’t too sure about buying a "fruit beer", but now, I had some high hopes. And then, it hit me. An aroma I can only describe as cheap raspberry perfume, the kind you find on sale at wal-mart or sketchy outlet stores. This couldn’t be my beer, I thought. My beer, mine, me, posikyle, king of beers; I could never be duped into buying a beer so horrible. But, then upon closer inspection, I saw a sheen (not unlike a diesel spill in a marina) splashed across the head. Well, I try not to judge books by their cover (or beers by their diesel-y head) so I took a big mouthful anyway. Big mistake. Big. Effing. Mistake. This is not beer. This is at best an amalgamation of cheap perfume, wax, diesel, and a hint of vegetable oil. Absolutely disgusting. I swallowed what I had on my tongue and poured the rest down the drain (I try not to waste beer, because, hey, there are poor sober kids in Somalia, but I made an exception for this one) and washed out my palate with a tall glass of water. Then, not more than a minute later, I found myself on the floor, curled up in the fetal position with the worse stomach pain I’ve had in a while (last time was when I went to El Torito and had their Queso Enchilada plate. Yuck.).
Bottom line is, don’t buy this beer. Not only is it horrible, but it will attack you once it gets in your stomach. Absolutely terrible. I’ve never met a more belligerent beer in my life. I wonder if this is just some bad joke from Lost Coast. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Exactly as I expected it to taste by looking at the label... If the label had a bottle of raspberry syrup on it instead of real raspberries. alafito (334), tijuana, Mexico
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Smells of roasted malts, toasted bread, caramel and fruits.
Looks Clear pale brown with disapating head.
Tastes as it smells except with rasberry syrup and coke a cola.
Feels very light and watery and has cabonation like a soda pop.
Could use more body and authentic rasberry flavor. Viper666 (622), Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. This beer pours a clear brown color with hints of red around the edges. Medium thin off-white head with decent retention, and stringy lacing. Mild raspberry and chocolate in the nose. Medium-bodied with sweet malt and raspberry flavors along with a touch of caramel in the background. The finish is short with tart raspberry flavor. Overall this beer is pretty one-dimensional and uninteresting.
