| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Reminds me more of a porter. Has a lot of spice and hops compared to the downtown brown by this brewer. Very creamy with a great finish. Very impressed with this brewer. brianjames1 (322), Northridge, California, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 3, 2007 Bottle purchased at Bodega Blue... Clear, dark copper ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Discreet nose of chocolate and caramel malts. The flavor is sweet and nutty with notes of chocolate and caramel. Full-bodied and creamy with medium carbonation. Lengthy, toasted, bittersweet finish. conor23 (110), Elgin, Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 27, 2007 Spices and roasted malt in the aroma. Flavor is slightly nutty with smokiness and hoppy bitterness in the finish. As I drank it I actually liked it less and less, I noticed more flavors that I did not enjoy as I went on. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Aroma: bread, slight spicy notes, dark raisin almost licorice... a little chocolate and some alcohol peeks thru as the beer reaches room temp
Taste: first words oooh that’s nice... opening notes of licorice, some molasses, bready and slghtly nutty with a restrained hop bite... with just a touch of chocolate leading into the finish
Medium light bodied finishing clean almost light with a short crisp chalky finish...
Overall: A very well made brown... actually surprised me... Not something to pass overlook for a winter brew CigarsLoveBeer (153), Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 5, 2007 Bottle: Brown body with little head. Not much to look at to be honest. The aroma included grape-like sweetness, with hints of syrup/molasses, bread-like sweetness, caramel, and licorice. Licorice flavor is prevalent in the mouth, particularly in the finish, combining with the hops for a spicy, balancing finish. The caramel malt entry mixes with spicy @mid-palate then the chocolate/roasted malts make an appearance before the nice finish. Definitely on of the better winter seasonals I’ve had this year.
