Pours midnight brown w/ a medium sized, short lived semi creamy froth. Aromas of roasted malts and maple hops. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. A dry, roasty ale w/ a moderate malted backbone. Coffee flavors and slight tobacco on the finish. Finish is bittered nicely. Overall: a good brew.

Red brown in color with a light off-white head that left good lacing in the glass. Nose is distinctly chocolate. Smooth on the tongue. Flavors of carmel and malts, Hops are just right ad it has a nice light bitter finish This is a very well balanced brew. Love that artwork on the label. A littte more hops than Downtown Brown. Way to go Lost Coast!

Cloudy, red/brown, with a slight tan head. Light hocolatey nose. Medium sweet flavor, some roasted notes, a decent dose of bitter chocolate. Very nice, almost like a doppelbock.

12 oz single, 2005 release from Whole Foods. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights and a moderate sized beige head that left delicate lacing. Roasty malt aroma, bitt of prune along with hints of earth, herbs and coffee. Nice roasty flavors, sweet with herby floral notes and milk. Medium body, smooth with mild carbonation. This year’s release is most similar in style to a porter in my book.

On tap at the Liar’s Club in San Deigo. A wonderful winter treat from Lost Cast. Poured dark brown with a good deal of foam. A roasty, malty flavor, with a nice mildly hoppy finish. Overall a fine Brown Ale!

2005 bottle (brown ale). Pours a darker brown with a fat pillow of fluffy head. Aroma has a light spice added with perfect caramel and toffee charcater. The drink is well rounded in body with a small flavor of caramel, coffee, and blended nuts. Quite good and a tad sweet in the aftertase that makes this stand alone out of the other winter season beers.
