Bottle. Pours dark amber with beige head. The aroma is malty with some earth and some cream. The flavor is coffee, earthy hops, chocolate, and some dark fruits in the finish. Woody and smooth.

12oz bottle - pours a very dark brown, almost seems black until you use a bright light, with a modest head that hangs around for most of the event. Lacing is minimal. Aroma is sweet with strong nuances of both malt and hops. There are also hints of coffee, figs and chocolate. Flavor is kind of hoppy which surprised me and kind of bitter, There are distinct hints of coffee, caramel and a sour spiciness. Mouthfeel is rich, sweet and full. Aftertaste is mostly bitter with strong hints of sour, burnt coffee. Obviously a well crafted beer for the style. Unfortuately, it not one of my favorite styles.

A very nice beer. Pours with dark amber, brown colour and a nice head. Chocolate and caramel flavors and some malt, however very different from a porter say. It is somewhat hoppy but not overwhelmingly so. Goes down very easy and finishes cleanly.

Pours a deep, rich amber hue, almost approaching a black color. It is topped by an initially frothy tan colored head that quickly disappears to a thin ring and some islands of bubbles. The aroma is rich and sweet with notes of burn raisins, fig and a finish that is like a lightly roasted breakfast blend coffee; roasty but not overly so. The aroma is quite interesting a mix between rich concentrated fruit notes up front to the dry roasted notes in the finish.

The taste has those same sweet concentrated fruit notes up front, and even through to the finish. It is not overly sweet, and is even fairly light on the palate, though it does have enough of a richness and palate to it that this is appropriate for the colder months. This beer has notes of sweet plum, fig. There is a mix between spicy hop notes (with a bit of citrus character thrown into the mix) and a bit of sharp carbonation that helps to balance the fruity sweet character. The finish has a light bitterness and a hint of lingering roasted astringency. As the beer warms up a bit the roasted notes begin to become more noticeable. This beer is nicely drinkable, and it is complex enough that the flavor keeps me intrigued throughout the drinking experience; from the fruit to the roast malt to the American hop notes. I could perhaps wish for a bit more depth to the malt character, but like I said it is quite enjoyable as is.

Dark brown with slight maohany tint to it, thin head, great pale ale slash brown ale taste to it, hoppy but yet kinda chocolatey, damn good beer I took down quickly

[bottle - 12 oz] Dark and clear brown pour with a slight tan head. Very faint aroma of brown sugar, nutmeg and some cinnamon. Very spicy taste at the beginning. Lots of brown sugar and spices with hints of malt and some sweetness like toffee at the end. Nice spicy bite at the end.

Some roasty malt aroma. Pours a dark brown. The flavor was a lot weaker than i remember from last year. I remember last year being a lot stronger malt character with a significant hop finish. but it seemed a lot weaker.

Pours medium to dark amber in color. Aroma is fairly sweet and maybe a little nutty. Smoothe sipping. Flavor is a little sweet and roasted with maybe a hint of chocolate. Good quality brown. Bottle.
