This is probably the best brown I’ve had. A flavorful brew, it would certainly be worth drinking all winter long. Odd that they don’t have separate ratings for the two styles.

I bought a 6 pack of Indica IPA and this was in it for some reason. It’s actually pretty tasty. Somewhat of a nut brown with a hoppy cover. I might buy a six pack of it.

Bottle(03-04). Medium tannish-brown head that is rapidly dispersing (first one was just fizzy like a coke). Aroma is wonderful. Nuts, chocolate, caramel, yeast, and spice. Flavor similar, with a spicy finish of coriander?. Very good flavor if not so good in appearance.

Lost Coast brewery is a master of the style, showing just what can be done with a brown ale. Deep brown, creamy head. Aroma was an unusual but inviting mix of chocolate and flowers. Flavor was an excellent, balanced blend of nuttiness, chocolate, touch of coffee, dark fruits, and floral hops. Really well done here. RERATE: 2/20/08 - Notes virtually identical, noted some additional dark fruit in the aroma. Scores the same, nice to see that this is just as solid as I first found it to be.

Bottle from Peace St. Market. Dark brown pour with medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some figs and dark fruit, nuts, scotch. Tastes caramel malty, nutty, spicy, with finishing hops and brown sugar.

Thanks to Suttree for this one. This starts off with a reserved light tan head over a deep brown beer with lots of ruby where the light penetrates. Dark caramel aroma. The flavor is full of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla; delivered smooth and filling. Decent brown ale.
