Crushed with Jakebra. Nothing special, but incredibly smooth and drinkable. So smooth. Smoothest brown Ive had since New Castle. Definitely diggin it. Drinkablility in a completely non-Bud Light way.

Clear ruby red with a tan head. Mild aroma is roasty malts and caramel. Medium body. Rich burnt caramel, brown sugar flavors with a smooth nutty finish. Nice winter ale.

Enjoyable brown ale that lives up to its claim of chocolate taste. With a creamy mouthfeel, it was like a chocolate cake smoothie on the tongue. Quite interesting. Would have again.

Pours a dark copper brown with a one to two finger creamy light tan head. The aroma is mildly grainy, sweet, some caramel, earthy malts, mildly nutty. The flavor has a caramely sweetness to it, very full, mild earthy bitter hoppyness, some rotten fruit. Very full mouthfeel.

Courtesy of Fonefan. The color is red mahogany and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, nuts and cocoa. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of citrussy hops, roasted malt, nuts, cocoa and a dry bitterness in the very long finish.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass - 6.5% abv. Purchased as a single at Whole Foods Arroyo, Pasadena, CA. Appearance: A dark brown with a small amount of translucence. Started with a small head that subsided to nothing. Aroma: Light scents of cocoa Taste: The flavor is much more bold than the aroma, a big burst of chocolate, coffee, and mildly spicy hops. The finish has some walnut and hop bitterness in it. Mouthfeel: Fizzy and a little bit syrupy. Overall: Very pronounced this year, and the aroma would lead you to believe there isn’t going to be this burst of flavor. Anyone who is a fan of chocolatey beer would enjoy this. Not my favorite holiday beer, but by itself, it is above average.

Pours a deep amber-brown with an off-white thinnish head with poor retention but some nice lacing. Aroma is very faint sweet malt - not a whole lot going on. Starts out like a Newcastle - very sweet with diacetyl but perhaps a little better-balanced. Whole-wheat bready, fruity yeastiness really brings out that doppelbock character that DuffMan so aptly pointed out. I’m not normally a big fan of sweet brown ales, but this one is winning me over, mostly due to its great body - oaty and thick, wonderful light but creamy mouthfeel, lightly carbonated. I do like this brown ale; quite sessionable and well-executed. Kudos to Lost Coast!

Bottle. Pours a deep copper brown, moderate taupe head. Aroma is predominantly of bread-crusty malts, maybe a little nutty. The palate is chiefly toasted malt in fairly generous proportion (quite doppelbockish really), but the finish is quite bitter and dry. Very nice.
