(Bottle). Aroma of caramel, some malt. Dark reddish brown body, light tan head. Very nice brown ale. Flavor is nutty, light caramel, medium sweet. Pleasing mouthfeel. Lingering nutty finish.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is just sweet caramel malt. The large amount of bittering hops in the taste really set this one apart from other brown ales, a little roasted and little spicy flavor. One of the better brown ales out there.

Pours dark brown with residual yeast visible. Nice frothy two finger off white head. Aroma has lots of citrusy hop elements as well as some toasty malt and spice. Flavor is lots of burnt malt with caramel and chocolate peeking through as well. Palate is quite rich for the style, almost having a creamy element to it. Quite robust mouthfeel indeed- the boys at lost coast did a good job on this one- one of my favorites of the style.

Pours a dark brown with tan head. Nose of cocoa. Tastes vegetal and nutty. Creamy medium body with a bittersweet finish. Got better as it warmed.

Clear deep brown body with ruby highlights and a medium creamy tan head. Sweet roasted malt, chocolate and nuttiness with a bit of floral hops. Chocolate and roasted malt flavor with more nuttiness, dry earthy hop flavor in the finish. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Pours a dark brown with a thin off white head. Nice malt aroma, heavy on chocolate and caramel. The chocolate really dominates the flavor. The beer is a little thin though.

Bottle from Greenwood Gourmet Grocery in Greenwood near Crozet, VA. Bottling date October 4. Pours dark strawberry red (strawberry brown?) with a medium head. Big malt aroma (caramel, toffee) with a hint of spiciness. Taste is very much the same with some earthiness and dark fruits. Chocolate comes through in the finish. Pretty good..
