| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Dark brown opaque pour with small whit head that rapidly shrinks. The nose is somewhat bland hints of chocolate and sugars. The flavor is mild smooth touches of chocolate and roasted malts, but slightly watered down for my taste. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Poured dark brown from the bottle with very little head. Fair amount of lacings. Aroma of dark chocolate. Flavor profile is good reminds me of a chocolate favored strong coffee. A little watery possiby due to the small amount of carbonation. Nice hop selection and more hop flavor than most brown ales. PattyBoy (302), North Liberty, Iowa, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2008 12oz. from City Beer in SF. Most of the previous reviews said it best. It has a nice rich brown ale aroma, and a decent flavor. Doesn’t quite have the rich brown ale flavor to complement that nice aroma... pumpkinheart (63), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 10, 2008 12 oz. bottle into pint glass. Pleasant coloring, although a bit thin. Couldn’t get much of a head which was a disappointment. The aroma was not too strong, nice roasted smell. I didn’t really get any of the chocolate that the brewer raves about, rather a burnt, strong coffee flavor. The ending is a lingering hoppy bitterness. Overall, if I wanted to drink coffee, I’d buy a coffee. I would have preferred the beer described by the brewer over the beer that the brewer actually bottled. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 8, 2008 12oz. bottle. Fairly slight aroma of toffee, cocoa, dark bread and nutty malts, lightly sweet and roasty with a very faint raisin character. Hazy medium red-brown color with a fine, subsiding head. Flavor is similarly sweet and toasty, hints of cola to be found here and there, with a light, milky chocolate malt presence and a moderate degree of bitterness, along with a surprising tart quality at the back. Finishes earthy, bittersweet, lightly spicy and dry. Mouthfeel is sharply effervescent, gently astringent and maybe a tad thin, body is medium. Pretty unremarkable, ultimately. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2008 12 oz. Uncloudy, dark brown with some ruby highlights and a small, lasting head. Earthy cocoa and roasted nut aroma. Initial taste is cocoa, roasted nuts, and slight coffee with some acidic-sour cherry tinges. Light medium body is pretty smooth, with a somewhat astringent finish and an acidic tongue tingle. ReademNwheat (174), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2008 From a bottle. Pours a dark amber/ light brown color with small off white head. Smells malty. Some coffee, nuts, little caramel little to no hop aroma. Roasty malt taste up front and a bitter hop taste in the finish that lingers with you. Alittle too thin in the mouthfeel. leaves some chunky lacing on the glass. An alright beer nothin too special.
